It was a very, very early start today for Vivid, as we braved the wind and rain and set off to Liverpool to welcome a very special guest. Chris Maloney the only over-28 and more importantly, only North West contestant left in the competition, returned home to his native Liverpool ahead of this weekend’s final. Liverpool born and bred Chris made a triumphant return to his much-loved home town today, and what better way to arrive in the city than on-board a Mersey Ferry. Chris made his way from Seacombe to Pier Head where he was greeted off the ferry by fans, hoards of press and even the Lord Mayor. You can see the pics and watch the interviews here and here.
Chris will also visit his old work, his Nan’s house of course, and will perform tonight at The Empire Theatre with mentor Gary Barlow. Despite some criticism during the competition, Chris has proved his critics wrong by reaching the final – which will take place in Manchester this weekend.
Mersey Ferries were absolutely thrilled to be such an important part of Chris’ return to Liverpool, it was fitting that he should arrive on-board one of the most famous and iconic attractions in Merseyside. Let’s hope it’s plain-sailing for him on Sunday!
